Home wasn't too much more interesting than the bus. Jenifer was with me though, so that made things a little more fun (although I seriously doubt she was supposed to).
"My parents anniversary is next week so I have to go shopping for their present,"she told me a week later."I talked to your mom and she said you can come if you want."
I thought about that for a minute."Actually,"I began slowly,"I'm not feeling that good, so maybe I'll just stay home and watch TV on the couch."
"You don't feel good?"Uh-oh, she looked concerned."Maybe I should take your temperature or something."
Great, if she pressed it I was going to have to pull a full-on Ferris Bueller. I hoped she didn't. I was in no mood to lick my palms.
Luckily, she didn't press it. She just left. I was sitting on the front stoop when two girls approached me. They had been walking back and forth past our house for about an hour.
"Are you Jessica Grace Hanson?"The blond one asked.
"Yup."
When they both squealed with delight and three other girls came up behind them, I grinned.

I am absolutely brilliant, there is no doubt about that.
I charged twenty bucks a girl to let them tour the house, and an extra fifty per person if they wanted to peek in the Hanson of their choice's drawers. I sold lego blocks for five bucks apiece.
Two-hundred and fifty dollars later, I was leading my sixth group of five through the house. Word had spread and there was a waiting line outside. Jennifer had called and said she'd be another two hours so I had plenty of time to run another few tours.
Almost all of the legos were gone by the time I decided I'd done enough touring. I held in my possession almost seven hundred dollars. Life was good.
And the best part was I didn't get in trouble.

A little over a week later the rest of the family came home. By that time I had replaced the legos with some cheap sets I got on sale at Wal-Mart. With any luck, they'd never notice.
Dad came in chuckling the next day after answering the door."Some girl had been told on-line that there were tours being conducted of our house,"he said to Mom laughing.
She laughed too."Even Jessi couldn't get away with that,"she said.
Little did they know...
