PKZip is a set of two executable files that have to be stored in your C drive (or the hard disk folder where the OS is installed). One file does the job of compressing, and the other does the job of decompressing. This compression utility works only on MS DOS (don't worry about the technical word. MS DOS is present in your PC if you have Windows OS). The advantage of using PKZip is that this utility is very small in size and can be stored in a floppy. So you can use it in which ever PC you want.
For example, compress certain files into a single file, then transfer it into a floppy. Copy these two files into the floppy also (what if the other PC doesn't have PKZip). Then you have a mini portable archive with you.
