The light colored dog was the Truth. The dark colored dog was a lie. That was the one difference that made them complete opposites. The dark colored dog was not able to give all of it's love, for it was fed by it's own lies, deceit and guilt, therefore, blinding it to the truth of it's master's love and thus turned and bit the hand of it's master, while the light colored dog, the truth, was not blinded by anything and saw it's master's love as real and true as it was, and therefore, WAS able to give all of it's love and remain faithful to it's master.
