Dylan McDermott
Robert G. Donnell on The Practice

1999 Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott currently stars in the Emmy Award-winning series, "The Practice," as idealistic defense attorney Bobby O'Donnell. McDermott spent his 1999 summer hiatus filming the Miramax feature, "Texas Rangers," opposite James Van Der Beek, which is set for release next year.

This fall, McDermott will star opposite Matthew Perry and Neve Campbell in the Warner Bros. romantic comedy, "Three to Tango." In the film, McDermott plays a rich and successful two-timing businessman, once again proving his range is limitless.

McDermott's extensive film work includes Paramount Pictures' "Home for the Holidays," directed by Jodie Foster and co-starring Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr. Also, in 1995, McDermott starred in Rysher Entertainment's "Destiny Turns on the Radio," opposite Nancy Travis and Quentin Tarantino.

McDermott starred alongside renowned director Richard Attenborough in John Hughes' 1994 remake of "Miracle on 34th Street," co-starring Elizabeth Perkins. In early 1994, McDermott portrayed the villainous John Stark in Imagine/Universal's "The Cowboy Way," opposite Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland. This contemporary cowboy yarn was directed by Gregg Champion and produced by Brian Grazer.

In 1993, McDermott received numerous accolades for his role as Clint Eastwood's secret partner in director Wolfgang Petersen's "In the Line of Fire" (Castle Rock/Columbia). Having leapt the crucial 100-million-dollar hurdle in domestic box-office receipts, the film propelled McDermott to the vanguard of Hollywood's leading men.

Born in Connecticut and raised in New York City, McDermott first developed an interest in acting in high school, due partly to the encouragement of his stepmother, Eve Ensler. A talented playwright, Ensler convinced him that his natural talent could lead to a professional acting career. One of McDermott's first appearances on the stage, in fact, came during the production of Ensler's original play, "Scooncat."

Earning his drama degree at Fordham University, McDermott joined the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse in New York, where he seized the chance to play Wykowski Selridge in Neil Simon's Broadway production, "Biloxi Blues."
