Steve Harris
Eugene Young on The Practice
Television audiences recognize Steve Harris for his impassioned portrayal of Eugene Young on ABC's Emmy-winning drama, "The Practice." Harris is now entering his fourth season as an attorney whose firm represents underdog clients. He won the 1998 Viewers for Quality Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, and is nominated again this year. He was also nominated for the 1999 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.
Harris spent his summer of 1999 hiatus starring in two feature films: Universal's "The Skulls" and the independent film, "Beyond the City Limits." Harris' previous motion picture credits include the blockbuster movie, "The Rock"; and "Sugar Hill," co-starring Wesley Snipes. He most recently appeared in MGM's "The Mod Squad," a feature version of the classic 1960s television series.
Born and raised in Chicago, Harris earned a graduate degree in theater from the University of Delaware. After graduation, several theater roles led to a guest starring appearance on "Homicide: Life on the Street," directed by Barry Levinson; and to a breakthrough role in "Against the Wall," a docudrama about a prison uprising starring Samuel L. Jackson and Clarence Williams III.
Harris' television credits include "Law & Order," "New York Undercover," "Murder One" and "Chicago Hope."
Also a seasoned stage actor, Harris earned critical acclaim for his off-Broadway performance in "Heliotrope Bouquet" and in the regional productions of "Macbeth," "Richard III," "Julius Caesar" and "The Great White Hope."
