5. 14 The Day After
"The Day After" - Unconscious and in critical need
of blood, Rebecca's fate is left to a higher power when her
mother refuses to allow a transfusion because of their religious
beliefs. Desperate to save Rebecca's life, Bobby tries to
override the mother's decision. Bobby ultimately loses the
decision and Rebecca does not receive the blood that she needs
and is expected to die. During the hearing, Lindsay has
her baby in the courtroom while the judge and Rebecca's mother
help her to deliver. Ellenor and Jimmy defend a teacher
wrongly fired in a crossover portion of Boston Public.

If it's sweeps, it must be stunt time. And executive producer
David E. Kelley pulls out a familiar grabber: the crossover
storyline. Principals on Kelley's Fox show, Boston Public,
appear on The Practice, and some of its characters appear on the
next Public.
The dual episodes concern a teacher (Thomas McCarthy) who
seeks counsel from Ellenor (Camryn Manheim) in a case involving
his knowledge of a teacher-student dalliance. The main Practice
drama, however, centers on a medical crisis imperiling Rebecca
that involves her headstrong mother (CCH Pounder). Judge Fox:

'The Practice' Crosses Over To FOX

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "The Practice's" Camryn
Manheim and Michael Badalucco will leave ABC temporarily and
cross over to another David E. Kelley series "Boston
Public" on Feb. 12 which airs on FOX. "Public"
cast member Thomas McCarthy will also cross over to the ABC
legal drama.
In the wake of a student-teacher affair on "Public"
on Feb. 5, Kevin Riley (Thomas McCarthy) seeks legal
representation from his old friend Ellenor (Manheim) and her
colleague, Jimmy (Badalucco), on "The Practice" Feb.
11. The storyline -- and the "chest thumping" between
Ellenor and Principal Steven Harper (Chi McBride) -- will wrap
up on "Public" the following night.
"Boston Public" is just the latest show to team up
with "The Practice" for crossover episodes. Another
Kelley series, "Ally McBeal" also swapped cross-over
episodes with "The Practice." There are also plans for
"The Practice" to cross-over with freshman drama
"Gideon's Crossing."
