Ellenor is treated by Dr.
Ben Gideon for a pre-natal condition that could gravely affect
her and her unborn child, Helen struggles to prevent an 11
year-old rape victim from having to face her attacker in court,
and Bobby defends a man accused of murdering his teen
stepdaughter.

Ellenor develops
complications in her pregnancy that require a referral to a
specialist, who happens to be the lead character on an ABC
series that can use a ride on The Practice's coattails. This
storyline crosses over into tomorrow's Gideon's Crossing.
Ellenor (Camryn Manheim) is already
upset about the paternity suit; now her white blood-cell count
is too high. Enter Dr. Ben Gideon (Andre Braugher). They're old
friends, but that doesn't mean she's not frightened by the
situation. Meanwhile, Bobby (Dylan McDermott) defends a man
accused of killing his 16-year-old stepdaughter; and Gamble's
rape case goes to trial---before a decidedly hostile judge
(Charles Napier).
