Aston Villa 4 Fulham 2 Both teams have been eyeing a place in Europe so far and each team went all out for the win. In the end however, Villa proved to be too much for Fulham to overcome as Gareth Barry put in a display that has earned him an outstanding reputation. The Englishman scored 2 fine goal and wrapped up the game for the midlands club. Debutant Louis Saha also netted a stunning effort from 20 yards for his new club and gave the fans of Villa a glimpse of a better future while Angel once again netted to propel the challenge for Europe. Fulham always looked unaware and slow and lost as a result. Bolton 0 Leicester 3 Leicester have been looking to pull themselves out of the bottom 3 for sometime now and lowly Bolton were the ideal opposition to help them realize that which they have fought for. It appeared as thought Bolton just laid back and allowed Leicester to play their football. The inspirational youngster Carlos Tevez started the scoring with a neat shot which was converted from a Robbie Keane cross. Soon after Montero slotted in from 5 yards and Robbie Keane added the extra goal via a corner which gave Leicester that extra confidence they need to pull them out of the relegation battle. Chelsea 1 Portsmouth 1 Chelsea were looking to catch up on leader's Arsenal while Pompey were looking to get together a decent result after recent mixed results. It was an extremely high paced game which neither team could really take control of. Kaka finally scored for the home side courtesy of a splendid cross from Zidane. Chelsea were happy to sit back and defend from then on but Portsmouth were relentless in their attacks and this finally paid off in the 79th minute, when the ever reliable Sylvain Wiltord hit a curling shot from the edge of the box which baffled Buffon. Each team shared the spoils in the end. Everton 1 Birmingham 1 Everton have been on a decent run as of late and looked to continue this against European hopefuls Birmingham. As usual, Wayne Rooney constantly tested the oppositions defense but couldn't make a breakthrough. It was James McFadden who unexpectedly split the sides after he slotted from 3 yards after a goal mouth scramble. Birmingham finally changed gear afterwards and battered the resilient Everton who eventually fell through in the 75th minute, when inspirational captain Frank Lampard unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards which took a deflection from John Terry and sneaked in the net. Manchester City 2 Liverpool 2 As expected, this was a highly entertaining match in which both sides shared the points. Michael Owen opened the scoring for Liverpool via a controvertional penalty after Ronaldinho theatrically fell in the box. Pablo Aimar then netted yet another stunning free kick for City in the 23rd minute. The game calmed down throughout the 1st half but cam back to life in the second. Veteran Alan Shearer cleverly hit a shot from the outside of his boot which James couldn't reach to put Liverpool back in front. However Man City didn't got another back in the 83rd minute when Eidur Gudjohnson netted from a Pavel Nedved through ball to level the game. Middlesbrough 0 Manchester United 2 A rather dull game in which Middlesbrough appeared to have laid back and allowed Manchester United to dominate. The defending from Boro's left hand side was appalling and because of this both Garry Neville and Joaquin got themselves on the score sheet. Garry Neville parried into the box in the 60th minute to fire in a low effort while Spanish wing wizard Joaquin fired an unbelievable effort from 35 yards which went in the back of the net from under the crossbar. Other than those ten minutes, the game never really got off but United gathered the 3 points necessary to keep leaders Arsenal sweating. Newcastle 0 Blackburn 0 It appeared as though both team's forgot that they are in a relegation battle and never once got off the mark. In a game that had very few shots on goal, Blackburn looked the stronger and more deserving team to win the game. However in the end, both team's looked happy to settle with a draw and ensure that they would remain in the relegation dog fight. Southampton 1 Arsenal 5 Southampton have been on great form as of late and looked to capitalize on this against leaders Arsenal however, this was not the case as Arsenal tore them apart. The inspirational Michael Ballack came back into the Arsenal side and started the scoring in the 13th minute after converting a cross from Cristiano Ronaldo. Henry then scored a penalty to put the home side 2 behind. New signing Maniche looked to have gave Saints a lifeline but Ballack once again shattered their hopes after blasting the ball past Niemi from 10 yards. Sol Campbell then headed from a corner in the 82nd minute and Cristiano Ronaldo buried the game in the 88th minute when he converted from 15 yards with a low volley. Tottenham 0 Charlton 1 Tottenham have been getting back on track as of late, but the player's looked tired and in need of a rest in this game as Charlton dominated from start to finish. Craig Bellamy split the sides in the 64th minute when he volleyed in a van Der Meyde cross and left Tottenham stunned. Tottenham never got off the mark and deservedly lost to Charlton who finally got a breath of air as the look to be moving away from the bottom 3. Wolves 3 Leeds 0 Some wondered why the Leeds players even turned up for this game as they were absolutely mauled by Wolves. Fillipo Inzaghi opened the scoring with a neat chip over keeper Paul Robinson then brother Simone Inzaghi added a second in the 46th minute from a fantastic pass from Deco. The Portuguese start then once again scored for his club in the 88th minute to put the game well beyond Leeds' reach and leave them rock bottom with little hope at this point in the season.
