FREESTYLIN' AT THE RIVOLI Freestylin' in 2000 at the Rivoli on the following Thursdays: Jan 13th, Feb. 10th, Mar. 16th, Apr. 13th, June 15th, July 13th / $5 cover Many of you will remember Freestylin' from its first days in 1997 at the We'ave where the Quartertones and Cryptik Souls members collaborated to bring you a jazz and hip hop fusion event with open mic and strictly improvisational sounds. Since December '99, the Quartertones have been playing on a monthly basis at the Rivoli in their "Freestylin'" night hosted by Cornflake Saymore, with guest DJs such as Circle Research, DJ Serious, and DJ Twist, as well as appearances by Cryptik Souls emcees among others. Imaginative and innovative in its approach, Freestylin' brings the improvisational jazzy grooves and hip hop beats of the Quartertones and friends and welcomes emcees, singers, and poets to lend their skills in this evening of freestyle inspiration. We are glad to return to Freestylin' and send special thanks to those who've turned out to support the continuation of the night at the Rivoli as well as to those who remember our days at the We'ave. JUS CUZ SHOWCASE May 25th,

The Quartertones are scheduled to appear with singer, Beverley, in the Jus Cuz Productions showcase "THE NEXT BEST SHIT" on May 25th, 2000 at the Rivoli. Other local acts performing in the event are: Nefarius, Arcee and Fatski (of da Grassroots), Na'tcha, K.C. Thomas, Kamau, D-Sisive and Unknown Mizery, Richy D, and DJ Grouch (Turnstylez), Muziklee Insane (CHRY), and D.J. S.O.S. (Son of Soul). |

CURRENT PROJECTS The Quartertones are in the midst of finishing up some new studio tracks including Get Respect (with vocalist Katie Burgess), Comin' Up, and Blood Pain, all recorded at Sugar Hill Studios in Fergus, Ontario. The band is also conceptualizing a future independent release.
