My Reccommendations . . .

The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Fantasy
The first in a series that tracks one bloodline across many generations, as they are sought out to help the Druids to save the Four Lands from peril. In this volume, Shea and Flick Ohmsford join Allanon, the last of the Druids, to search out the elusive Sword of Shannara. The only problem being, this sword can only be used by a direct descendant of Jerele Shannara, a long ago king of the elves. Can Flick and Shea find the sword in time to save the lands from The Warlock Lord? Will one of them even be able to use the enchanted blade?
726 pages. Very good reading! I finished this book in under a week!! Couldn't put it down. (and they only get better!)

The Elfstones of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Fantasy
Volume 2. The Stors are an elite group of gnome healers. Wil Ohmsford, Shea's grandson, has been studying with the Stors for almost two years now. Never before has a human been accepted into their society. All seems to be going well. Until, once again Allanon shows up. He charges Wil to protect the elven girl, Amberele, using the power of the Elfstones. But it seems that Wil's elven blood isn't predominant enough to access their power. How will he ever be able to protect the girl now? What will happen to the elves if he is not able to guide her safely through her quest?
564 pages. Once again, very good reading!

The Wishsong of Shannara by Terry Brooks
Wil Ohmsford has married the rover girl, Eretria, and vowed never to use the magic of the Elfstones again. He keeps them well-hidden from their two children, Brin and Jair. Then, while Wil and Eretria are away, Allanon comes to Brin, who has been changed by her father's use of the elven magic. The "toy" she calls the Wishsong, is the first innate magic the Four Lands have seen in more than a century. Despite her misgivings, she follows Allanon on a quest to destroy the Ildatch, an ancient magic. The magic that created and subverted The Warlock Lord. Can it be done? Or more to the point: can she do it?
504 pages. Suspense-filled. A real page turner!

The First King of Shannara by Terry Brooks
The un-official fourth volume. This is the prequel to the first three books. This elaborates on how Allanon, and Bremen became the last of the Druids. Also, you will find out how The Warlock Lord, and The Sword of Shannara came into being. This also reveals how Jerele Shannara starts in motion the events that lead to the awaking of the Warlock Lord, in the time of Shea Ohmsford.
489 pages. One of my favorites! Second only to the first one, at this point in the reading. (sorry about the short, vague description ~ i didn't want to give away too much!!)

The Scions of Shannara by Terry Brooks
This is the first in the Heritage of Shannara series. It has been 300 years since the death of Allanon. The trust instilled to the descendants of Brin Ohmsford, is being called upon. The Shadowen threaten to destroy the land. Allanon's shade calls forth the children of Shannara and gives them each a charge. To Par ohmsford: find the missing sword of Shannara. To his cousin, Wren Ohmsford: find the missing elves, and return them to the Four Lands. And to their uncle, Walker Boh: restore Paranor, and the Druids to the Lands. Only when each of these conditions are met, can the Shadowen be overcome!
