Stage 11

The winter of 2002

Not enough time...but 15 minutes of fame!

This winter turned out to be a bit of a pause in improving the BlackMagicCapri. A new job and new house meant that time got a little short, but that's the way it goes, I suppose.

A black interior is one thing that started to come together, I bought a spare parts car together with a friend, that had decent doorcards and a decent dashboard. The car is a 1977 2.0 GL, which means the doorcards have carpet on the lower part, and though the car itself was very tired, amazingly enough the doorcards were not cut for speakers. Only problem is that the electric windows I struggled to hard to fit last year (because the speakers interfered with the window handles), now became unnecessary...

The parts car partly covered in snow...

I also started making an anti-dive kit, the picture is a bit dull but it's made in roughly the same way as the kits Burton Power sells.

The 15 minutes of fame was a result of some discussions with Gunnar Ljungstedt, who works a s a freelance reporter at photografer for the Swedish car magazine Bilsport. They wanted an article about turbo conversions, so I did a 4-page story with the BlackMagicCapri as the example, of course. Copyright restrictions means I can't publish the entire story here, but a small piece probably is OK...

So, this is where we are in March 2002, moving into the house in April - a nice house with a real two-car garage, finally...
