Svetlana is 28 years old, Russian and works as an IT-Manager in Novosibirsk. In November she'll move over to Kai to Moscow after having finally found a job over here. She likes reading, mountainbiking, skiing, tennis and icehockey (the latter one only to watch). She read the "Hobbit" a long time ago and the "Lord" once some time later. She also saw the film. To do the writing in elvish was actually her idea.

Kai is German but lives in Moscow, where he works for a market research company. He is 35 years old, plays icehockey and likes mountainbiking too, reading and punk/hardcore/independent music. In his early teens he read The Hobbit, followed up by the Lord (several times), the Silmarillion and one Unfinished Tales. He also read two biographies of Tolkien, and in school he did a presentation on him and his work. He refuses to watch the film since I built in his mind "his own" Middle-earth and doesn't want it to be destroyed by some film that will never have the richness of Tolkien's fantasy.

Svetlana and he met last year, when Kai worked for her company in Novosibirsk. He says: When we decided to get married, it was clear that we would have some slogan engraved on the ring. However, since she's Russian and I am German, we did not want to use any of our languages, so that no-one would be preferred. There was also the question about the ring's design. Finally she came up with the idea with the Elvish, since it's "neutral" but special though, the writing is beautiful and we both very much like Tolkien's books, without being fanatics though. Through the internet I got in contact with Helge Fauskanger, who agreed to translate our slogan and to send us the written sentence.' The slogan is in Quenya and reads > "Ean illume aselye", > which means "I am always with you". Both our rings > have the same > inscription and the same design.

The inscription is written in Quenya using Tengwar, and reads:
