Boris and Olga's invitation

Boris Shapiro and Olga Kukhtenkova are from Russia and were married on June 16, 2001 in a catholic church. Boris is an amateur linguist, fond of Tolkien and his languages. His Tolkienian name is Elenhil Laiquendo which means in Quenya "Elf-follower Green-elf". Olga is an artist, dramatic actress and she loves drawing fairies and elves. Her Tolkienian name is Elgaladna Findilauriel which means in Sindarin and Quenya "Star-tree Golden-haired maiden". She has decorated the following invitation and designed the elven costumes for the wedding.

Boris is a well known member among the Tolkienian linguists. He has formed his own complex ideas about Tolkien's universe in relation with the Elder Days of our world and Christianity. He has also done some interesting calculations on Tolkien's calendars and found how they could be used in modern times.

More pictures of this elvish wedding and Elgaladna's artwork can be found in Gwaith-i-Phethdain.

The text is written in Sindarin and was meant to resemble the King's Letter found in HoME IX. Notice that they translated even their Quenya names and the month name "June" in Sindarin. It's written as you see with Tengwar and reads:
Eledhrein Laegil a Elgaladna Lorfinnel
berithar westad în erin 26 Laer,
egor ben genediad adanail erin Iûn 16;
ar anírar ennas suilannad mhellyn în phain,
edregol anírar tirad Cithlin ar Aearel.

'Elenhil Laiquendo and Elgaladna Findilauriel
will bond their vows on Summer 26
or according to the mannish reckoning on June 16;
and they wish there to greet all their friends,
especially they wish to see Cithlin and Aearel.'
