Nirvana-  Incesticide
Who here is a Nirvana fan?  (hands raise)  Who here owns "Nevermind"?  *a couple hands go down*  Who here own Incesticed? *most hands go down*  Just as I thought, not too many people.  Maybe thats why Wooden Nickle priced it down to $9.  Hmmmmm.
Given this is not Nirvana as most people know them.  They associate them with everything but the sounds that emminate from this album.  What do I mean?  Do you associate punk music with Nirvana?  No, when you think NIrvana, you think grunge.  Yet, half the songs on  this album seem "punkish"  Vaseline covers are abound, also there is a faster version of "Polly" and "Downer" from Bleach is on there too.  One would think that they struggled with this album, but its originals are enough to keep you with it.
"Sliver" has to be one of the greatest songs you've never heard.  "Dive" is its own marvel.  I enjoy "Beeswax" with its almost rap sounding approach during the verse and the oh-so lovable "I got my diddly spayed" for the refrain.  Heck, "Mexican Seafood" is about a yeast infection!
DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT BUY THIS ON A WIM.  Are you a die hard Nirvana fan and need it for your collection, go ahead.  I did the same with all my Soundgarden albums.  Like I said, don't just buy it so you can have a Nirvana album.  Its diffrent and I wouldn't recommend it for your first Nirvana album.  I dig it though and you should see if you can check it out first before you buy it to make sure you like it.  If you wanna own a Nirvana album, check out "Muddy Banks of the Wishka"  Its kinda like a greatest hits, and it gives you a taste of what each album sounds like.  However, to me, all the songs fit well with each other.  Thats why I was taken aback when I listened to Incesticide.....It wasn't what I expected.
