Mr. John Carson Sr
August 12, 1935 - July 23, 2000

Mr. John Dallas Carson Sr., 64, of Carroll Valley, Pa., and formerly of Emmitsburg, died Sunday, July 23, at his home. John was the husband of Patricia (Little) Carson. Born Aug. 12, 1935, in Biglerville, Pa., he was a son of the late Dallas A. and Herma Crum Carson. He worked for the U.S. Government for over 30 years, retiring as an animal caretaker for the National Institute of Health. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 - 1957. He was known for his work in custom building and restoring pool tables. He was a member of St. Anthony's Shrine Parish Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark Allan Carson and Brian D. Carson, both of Thurmont; two brothers, Robert L. Carson of Waynesboro, Pa., and James Arthur Carson of Hanover, Pa.; and two sisters, Mary C. Long of Reeds Point, Montana and Virginia L. Miller of New Oxford, Pa. He was preceded in deather by his oldest son, John Dallas Carson, Jr.

Mrs. Shirley Little
August 20, 1935 - February 29, 2000

Mrs. Shirley M. Little, 64, of Motter Station Road, Emmitsburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, atGettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, Pa. Shirley was the wife of John B. (Jack) Little, her husband of nearly 40 years. Born Aug. 20, 1935 in Steelton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Lillian (Wetzel) Wilhide. Mrs. Little was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. Surviving in addition to her husband and six children, Tim Little and wife Jean of Thurmont, Mary-Lou Little at home, Pam Bolin and husband Ed of Fairfield, Pa., Tony Little and wife Jane of New Market, Scott Little and wife Sharon of Thurmont, and Ed Little at home, 10 grandchildren, one sister, Lorraine Wivell and husband James of Rocky Ridge and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mildred Wilhide.

Mr. John Wood
March 11, 1929 - November 27, 1999

Mr. John T. "Woody" Wood, 70, of Elm Street, Thurmont, died Saturday, Nov. 27, at his daughter's home. He was the husband of Catherine (Little) Wood who died in 1973. He was a son of the late Maurice W. and Eva Ruth (Toms) Wood. Mr. Wood retired in 1988 after 36 years of service with Moore Business Communications Services, Thurmont, as an estimator. He was a life member of Guardian Hose Volunteer Fire Co., Thurmont, and the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club. In his younger years, he and his twin brother, Charlie, had worked for M.L. Creager Funeral Home, Thurmont. He enjoyed gardening and wood-working. Surviving are two children, Thomas A. Wood and wife Diane, and Nena L. Eyler and husband Norman A., and two grandchildren, twin brother Charles and wife Corrine of Thurmont, and two sister, Pearl W. Thacher and husband William R. of Florida, and Ethel K. Lewis and husband Raymond of Thurmont; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Joseph Eyler; and one brother, Gary M. Wood.

Mr. Joseph Little
September 25, 1922 - August 4, 1999

Mr. Joseph Felix "Joe" Little, 76, of 16122 Kelbaugh Road, Thurmont, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, at his residence. He was the husband of Margaret Boland Little, who died Aug. 6, 1993. Born Sept. 25, 1922, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Mary Marjorie (Lingg) Little. He retired from the Provincial House in Emmitsburg. He was an active member of Pioneer Baptish Church, Thurmont. He is survived by one step-daughter, Marie E. Messner of Thurmont; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Patricia Carson of Thurmont, and Betty Boose of York, PA; five brothers, Carroll, Leo, Phil, all of Thurmont, Jack and Tommy Little of Emmitsburg; two great-aunts, Mary Stultz of Fairfield, Pa., and Regina Eiker of Emmitsburg; and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Louise Little and Catherine Wood; three brothers, Francis, Kenneth and Donald Little; and one step-son-in-law, Larry Messner, Sr.
