Waves of Sorrow In dedication to the Survivors of Hurricane Katrina August 29, 2005 Waves of sorrow washed over the nation Unbelief reigned over our great land Stories of horror and complete devastation Stunned and shaken, misery close at hand Sisters reaching out for brothers Hearts breaking, tears flowing Children searching for fathers and mothers Waiting day to day with unknowing Sounds in the night of loved ones crying Sorrow after sorrow coming in waves The living clinging to life among the dying Happy homes turned into unnatural graves Water all around yet dying of thirst Broken pieces of memories strewn Living a life that was unrehearsed Trying to cope with the unknown Torn and shattered feeling forsaken Nothing would ever again be the same Trying to make sense of all that was taken Feeling a need to place the blame Grasping to hope amongst the ruins And in the crowds of scattered lives Loved ones reuniting with loved ones Thankful that they too had survived As strangers embrace strangers With open arms and homes to share Brotherly love is found replacing the anger Because now they know that someone does care Theresa R. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4 |
Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, where withal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34 |
