News - June 1999 Archive
June 29th, 1999- From E! Online chat with Wanda:
- Angel began filming June 14. Is there anything you can tell us about the premiere?
- Yes, Cordy starts to work with Angel. It's her idea that they charge people for his "soul-saving" services. I think Angel's sidekick may take a liking to Cordy.
- What's Angel's sidekick's name?
- Doyle. He played by Glenn Quinn. (Remember him as Becky's husband on Roseanne?)
- Was the Angel presentation you got any good?
- It's pretty short, but it does start out with a really cool Angel monologue where he mentions the love of his life, Buffy, and says to the camera: "I think you know her."

- From E! Online:
- Talking about buzz for the upcoming season..."The shows attracting the most heat from
media--not media-buyers--folks are the demographic opposites of, say,Family Law:
Hewitt's Time of your Life (Fox), a Party of Five spinoff; Buffy spawn
Angel (WB) and Williamson's Wasteland (ABC)...So, why aren't the ad types more
excited about the programs of the Dawson's Creek generation? 'It's so subjective,' says
John Consoli, a senior editor for Mediaweek magazine. 'Most of the buyers who have looked
at these things have only looked at one pilot, one episode.'"
- Hmmm...seems the ad execs aren't too excited about these shows, the ones I'm most
interested in seeing next season...

- Preview from E! Online :
- As if this show even needs a plot when it's got the babelicious forms of David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter. Of course, with Buffy creator Joss Whedon at the helm, there's sure to be a third thing going for this new hour of drama, too: an intriguing storyline that will keep us ooing, ahhing and huh-ing. Never mind the fourth thing: It airs on Tuesday nights, on the heels of Buffy. So, what's the plot, anyway? Angel relocates to the City of Angels, where, in order to save his own soul, he has to save a few hundred lost ones. Okay, as long as he does it with his shirt off...
Also starring: Glenn Quinn
