Cake Makeup |
Cake makeup is great for amatuers, plus good practice. Cake is usually used for intimate and small stage theatre. Cake also is good for children, considering it's a faster process. Like all makeup, Cake will come off if you put too much on, sweat, or rub too hard. Hopefully, you'll follow my tips for a hassle-free night of not worrying too much about your makeup. |

Step 1- (Prepping) |
Wash your face. Shave that 5 O'clock shadow, pluck/trim those eyebrows. You NEED it. Take some cotton balls and ProFace, then put it on your face and neck. Be careful around the eyes. Take out your cake and pour in some Liquiset. Let it sit for a minute or two and your cake will become creamy. |
Being me, I like to draw out my faces first so I know where my makeup is going. Take your base color (this is usually white) and sponge (if the sponge is too big, cut it into quarters) and start applying where you want it. White can be hard, so use a stippling motion instead of a brushing one. All you do is pat up and down on it, quickly. Do the same with any other colors abound the face. |
Step 2- (Bases) |
Step 3- (Detail) |
Now that your bases are dry, we go in for the detail! Take your cake and put in more Liquiset. You don't need to let the LiquiSet sit this time, just take your brush, dip it in and get to work. Start adding in your detail where you want it. When it comes to whiskers, some cats have it and others don't. To keep a steady hand, hold your hand while painting. Even if your whiskers aren't perfect, they merely add character. Don't go back to fix it, or else it'll ruin the makeup. Remember to use your white for detail! It helps to accent your eyebrows and other areas. Look at it this way: your black and brown are your shadows and your white is your highlighter. |
Step 4- (Final Steps) |
Your makeup is finished! How do you like it? If you think you can improve, you can with practice. Take pictures and save them as a portfolio. You'll see your improvement that way. Now, I always say a little powder wont hurt anything. Take a powder brush and some Neutral powder (use a little!Too much will cover your makeup). Neutral powder helps areas that perspire a lot. Areas to do this would be your forehead, nose and nostrils, under eyes, and around your lip area. Now take your Final Seal and spray it a foot away from your face. This helps keep the makeup in place. Rubbing extremely hard will take it off. But the seal keeps your makeup on throughout the night. |
To clean, simply wash your face with Cold Cream. It cleans off the makeup and your pores as well. To clean your brushes, use the Brush Cleaner. To clean your sponges use soap and water first, then a little Brush Cleaner to get out the excess. |
Step 5- (Cleaning) |
