January 20th 2001 Julia Churchill's Bedroom Vancouver, BC, Canada Last night was one of the most amazing nights of my life. I had finally worked up the courage to ask Isaac, the sweet, funny man from work, out on a date to see 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. He showed up at my place with a small bouquet of lilies (how did he know they were my favourite? Maybe he asked Bruce), kissed me on the cheek, and said 'For the princess'. How sweet is that? The play was amazing. Christopher Gaze was incredible as Bottom. I pictured him as more of the type of actor who would play Theseus (since he usually does more serious roles), but I was impressed. Afterwards, we went for a nice walk in Vanier Park, watching the sun set. To my surprise, Isaac had made reservations at The Cannery, the best seafood restaurant in Vancouver. We talked for hours about Shakespeare, music, books, life, and everything else in between. The waiter looked a little pissed off when he told us it was closing time. Being the gentleman that he is, Isaac walked me to my front door. He asked me if 'I wanted to do this again some time.' I smiled, and said yes. He pecked me on the cheek, and said 'I'll see you at the studio'. It's 3 in the morning, and I probably should get some sleep. Love, Julia ********** I closed my diary, turned off my bedside light, and promptly fell asleep. |
