Kingray
The Kingray is an enormous sandray with the same triangular body and long agile tail, only on a much, much larger scale. Its immense body is dark blue in color going to a lighter blue shade near the edges of his wings. His back is black, with a random pattern of numerous white and light blue stars. Along its spine is a single row of bony spikes. The Kingray is among the most majestic of all flying creatures. It does not truly fly, but levitates while propelling itself graciously with the waving motions of his wings. The Kingray controls its altitude by generating and manipulating lighter-than-air gases inside its body.

  • Swallow whole: The Kingray can swallow a snatched opponent if he succeeds at an opposes grapple check (with a +61 bonus). The Kingray doesn't have a stomach but a long throat lined with grinding teeth. Once inside the happless victim takes 3d10+22 points of bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage per round from its teeth and muscular contractions. A successful grapple check allows the swallowed creature to climb out of the throat. where another grapple check is needed to get free. Alternatively, a swallowed creature can try to cut it's way out. Dealing at least 25 damage to the throat (AC 20). Once a single creature exits, muscular action closes the hole. The Kingray can hold 3 Huge, 12 Large, 48 Medium-size or 192 Small or smaller creatures.
  • Levitate: This exceptional ability of the Kingray enables it to ascend at 20 ft./rnd or descend at 500 ft./rnd
  • Camouflaged rest: Like the sandray, the Kingray has the ability to blend into his surroundings. It enhances this effect by using his great wing-flaps to cover himself with dust, dirt, rocks and bushes or anything else. Because of this, the Kingray receives a +32 bonus to hide when settled on the ground.
  • Mesmerizing hum: At will, the Kingray can emit a low humming sound that mesmerizes any nearby creature. Mesmerized creatures suffer a -6 penalty to Spot and Listen checks and can't do anything but watch the Kingray until he is gone. A mesmerized creature can be struck (with a +2 bonus to the attack roll, as if it were stunned), but it then recovers from the compulsion and is no longer affected by the effect. The will save to resist this effect has a DC of 25. Plugging your ears doesn't offer any protection against the hum, but grants a +2 bonus to the save.
    Deaf or deafened creatures get a +5 bonus to their save. A successful Autohypnosis check DC 20 grants another +2 bonus, +4 if you beat DC 25 and +6 for a DC of 30.
