Gambling
Gambling is one of those things that everyone in Undersands has done at least five times in their lives. Some people gamble all the time, they place bets on anything going from gambling games, to arena fights. As long as something has an unsure outcome it is worth a bet. The only thing preventing Undersands from becoming a real "gambling paradise", is the lack of wealth. Undersands just isn't the place where everyone has money to spare. Still, a lot of people gamble away their hard earned money and are left with nothing or worse, a debt they cannot settle.

A few of the popular gambling games are "Kano" and "Kulosto". Here is a short explanation of the rules.

Kano
Requirements: twenty-sided dice, two or more players;
Winning: highest score wins;
Gains: all the copper that was entered;

Kano is a simple dice game. All you need are a couple of twenty-sided dice and some money to spare. Every participant buys a number of dice (or a number of rolls), each cost one copper and you can't bet more than 20 copper. Then, the participant rolls his dice (one for every copper he entered) and calculates his score.

Scoring is calculated as follows: The highest roll wins and any number that's rolled again adds one to your highest score. On a tie, the tied winners reroll
For example: Cross-eyed Eddy enters 5 copper and his pall Sneaky Bob enters 7 copper. Cross-eyed Eddy rolls 16, 8, 14, 15, 8. His score is: 17 (highest roll 16, +1 because he rolled eight twice). Sneaky Bob rolls 15, 15, 4, 5, 12, 5, 5 and gets 18 (15, +1 from the second 15, +2 from the second and third 5). Sneaky Bob wins the game and takes the 12 copper. Of course, Sneaky Bob used weighted dice but luckily for him, Cross-eyed Eddy's other eye was distracted by the serving wench.

Other varieties exist where different dice are used, kids often use six sided dice, hardcore gamblers use dice with more sides. Furthermore, the maximum number of dice can be raised or lowered, as can the cost per die.

Kulosto
Requirements: coloured stones, one bank, one player;
Winning: getting the right combination;
Gains: twice the copper you entered;

Kulosto is a game that can only be played at a gambling house. The bank has six colored stones, called the "kulosto". Each stone has a different color (traditionally red, yellow, blue, green, purple and orange). The bank chooses any four stones and puts them in a certain order. The player also has six colored stones and gets three turns plus one turn per copper to put them in the right combination. You can get maximum 10 tries but more copper can be entered. To aid the player, the bank will say how many colors are right and how many of them are in the right spot. This is often visualised with the use of black (right color) and white (right color in the right spot) stones.
For example: The bank chooses red, yellow, blue, green and the player chooses blue, yellow, purple, red. The bank shows two black stones (blue, yellow and red are three colors from his combination) and one white stone (yellow is also in the right spot).

special: To simulate player intelligence, the player may add his intelligence modifier to the number of tries he has. This allows you to have more than 10 turns.
