The Netherworld
The Netherworld is the realm of spirits, and is sometimes called the Spirit World. It is the ghostly reflection of AranoX, it covers the physical world, yet in ways it is the past and future echo of it. In the Netherworld, time can flow strangely, and visions of the what will be or has been sometimes shroud the Nether. A city that will fall in the near future might be seen ruined and pillaged in the Nether.

The Netherworld is a very dangerous place, filled with frightened spirits, hiding in their own world from dangers that lay beyond. Unless you have a nature spirit ally to provide you with a safe haven, you will soon get lost in this world that is a pale and nightmarish reflection of the real world. In this world, many spirits, unaware of their condition, relive the last agonizing moments of their life over and over again.

The Netherworld hasn’t always been like this. It used to be a small place that lingered alongside the real world, like a thin layer of fog appearing at dawn. It happened after the goddess cut off the world from all magic, in order to weaken the evil Sorceress Queen, that the Netherworld changed. Suddenly not only the real world was cut off from the universe, but also the Netherworld. What used to be a place of transition between the real world and the afterlife (heavens and hells) now became the only refuge where spirits could go after death. As countless soldiers died in the Great War, more and more spirits ended up in the Netherworld with no other place to go to. The Netherworld soon became a fully-fledged world, growing bigger and bigger from the spiritual-energy, becoming a realm apart from the real world.

The spirit world is more than a pale copy of the physical world. It contains places never seen before by a living soul. Sometimes these places are angelic, but more often than not, these places are like a nightmarish abyss, created by the deformed and deranged mind of a broken spirit. Anyone dwelling in the Netherworld would do well to avoid these dark and maddening sites of torture lest they succumb to it and never be sane again.
