Mature thri-kreen stand approximately 7 feet tall, while their total body length is roughly 11 feet. They have four arms ending with claws, and two legs. Their legs are extremely powerful, capable of incredible leaps. However, kreen are unable to jump backwards. Their body is covered with a sandy-brown chitin, a tough exoskeleton that grants the thri-kreen protection from blows. Their head is topped with two antennae, and their two eyes are compound, multi-faceted eyes. Their mouth is made up of small pincers. Society The kreen live as one big family and their society operates much like an organized hive. The social contacts are very strong and very important. Although individuality is not suppressed, everybody serves the hive and considers the hive’s well-being as more important than their own. This pack mentality dominates a kreen's relation with others. Kreen hunt in packs, small groups that assemble together. A kreen that joins a group of humanoid will often try to establish dominance in the group. This can be disconcerting to those unaware of the kreen's behavior, since establishing dominance usually means making threatening gestures. Once the matter is settled, they will abide by the outcome. Thri-Kreen Variations Once in a while an ‘Albino Thri-Kreen’ is born. These prophesized births will always bring forth a mantis shaman. These kreen never grow taller than 4 feet, will always be white and receive a great amount of respect among their kin. Albino thri-kreen are seen as the counterbalance for the legendary ‘Black Thri-Kreen’. Moreover, they are supposed to be in direct spiritual contact with 'the Great One' or 'Ygdrassil' a legendary kreen warrior from he past. They represent the spiritual power of the people as opposed to the potency of the warrior. The exo-skulls of these shamans are great treasures kept in the spiritual places. As psychic thri-kreen these albino’s have great potential of becoming powerful psions. However, their psychic powers are neglected in favor of the cultivation of spiritual powers. The ‘Xixchil’ are the surgeons and transmuters for the tribe of the thri-kreen. They aren’t born, they are created. Standing between 5 and 6 feet tall, with a green exoskeleton, they are an odd sight between all the other camouflaged thri-kreen. They are famous for their body alterations, both on themselves and their clients. No two Xixchil look alike. They all aspire to be as unique as possible. They accomplish this through tattooing and piercing themselves. On top of that they perform body modifications to ‘enhance’ their bodies. It is rare to find a xixchil who still has his four ‘hands’. These hands have been replaced with more efficient ‘surgeon’s tools’. (Xixchil is a special prestige class for psychic thri-kreen) |
