Review: Sim Mommies.
Today's review is of Sim Mommies, a site that is just starting out. I feel I can offer some advise to this site, so this is more of a creator to creator pow-wow. I'm taking a little more time with this review than I normally would, because this site has a lot of potential based on what I'm seeing (and because I care).

Let me tell our readers first off that Sim Mommies is a site that has some nice stuff, you do have to search for it though. It's tempting, as a creator, to add everything to your site, but with time, creators tend to delete their older stuff in favor of the new. I'm going to spend a little time going over "fine-tuning" a site, and as I always try to remind people, I don't do these reviews to hurt feelings, but, rather, to help the creators grow.

I want to start by talking about the site design and layout. I love the intro area. Our hosts introduce themselves and show a little humor in their opening. I remember the TV show, The Mommies, and I believe that is the theme of the site. It would be really nice to see a background, buttons, and banner that worked within that theme. Something that carries throughout the entire site. The navigation now is easy enough to find your way around, but, I worry about future site growth. As new things are added, it could get harder to find things, and for the webmaster to fit it in. Just some food for thought.

Ok, heading to Objects first, and I must say I like what I see. This blue Living Room is nicely done. I like the texture to the sofa set, and the shadowing has come through. The plant's pots are re-colored to match. I know a lot of people like everything to go together. I also like the chairs on this page (with the chess set). They have a nice fabric, and again, I see the shadowing that I like to see.

Now I'm heading to Rugs. I want to say that I really like the rugs that go with the sets, I'm a big "matching" person. If you are looking for "stand-alone" rugs, there are some here. I like the round Pooh-Bear rug a lot.

Next is a Paintings area, and you can never really go wrong there. We have some nice paintings that you should check out. I'm heading to Lights next, and this is an area that I would suggest "downsizing". Lamps are one of the hardest thing to do for the game. It's really hard to draw them, and "images" just don't sit right (I'm just really picky about this). I think some of the best sites out there are the ones that don't give into the "Light" temptation. Things like this can bring the rest of your site down.

Next, I'm heading to the Hot Date area and again, I like the things I'm seeing. The Living Room set, cloned from the Love Seat shows shadowing, and is a nice shade of blue. The rug matches well. The Paintings are also well done.

Skins are next, allow me to remind everyone that I don't skin, so I can't offer anything except my biased opinions. I like the "Clubbing" skins. As long as I see shadowing and clear lines, I'm good. Details are a bonus. Here, I see shadowing and clear lines. The only advise I would offer in this area is to re-do the screenshots. They look like they were re-sized a little, and the re-sizing doesn't come across as well as it could.

I'm going over to Walls now and it is very clear to me that Mamajean's skill for doing walls is coming along. Looks like the bases were always good, but some of the older walls are out of focus. Here is where I will get into that fine tuning I was talking about earlier. From the new batch, everything looks great, except maybe the brick wall. I think the bricks would work better if they were smaller. The last three in the new batch are a little too fuzzy. Everything else "New" is TOP NOTCH! This is what a great site will offer. In the second section, I would "downsize" it all, except for the three blue walls. Those are wonderful and stay with the same great quality of the newest stuff. Bitty's walls match the rug, so that's worth keeping around. Going to page 2, and seeing some more nice walls. The Bear in the Big Blue House stuff isn't my style, but, I know people will like that a lot. The matching floors are also very nice.

The Floors are a mixed pot. The newest stuff, again, is a class act. Floors are a hard thing to do. The older floors need some "downsizing". Brick floors just never mesh right (unless you make the bricks small enough). I am not keen on a lot of the older floors, but, I'm sitting here comparing them to the newer, and the new just blows the old away.

One last thing before I close out this review. The Home Page offers a new Ivy set that is very nice. With matching wall and floor. I just love ivy, and the "crackled" effect on the WP comes across very nice.

I am giving the Sim Mommies a (3), based on the growth that I see. If these ladies continue to grow at this pace, and are willing to listen to my "downsizing" advise, this will be a site to keep an eye on. It's worth your time to go check out all the newest stuff.

Keep in mind that these are the views of Lynne. If you have any comments or questions feel free to e-mail her at anytime.
