Review: Wretched Sims. |
This site immediately gets at least a 1 with me for having a sense of humor (hate mail section) – I like people who can take the bad with the good and laugh! I honestly can say I hear about this site a lot but the home page has always turned me off so I haven’t really given it a chance…so, you are here with me – for the first time – a virgin Wretched Sims site go’er. You will experience the loss of my Wretched Cherry with me…hang in there – this should be fun (or a very traumatic experience…we will see). As usual, my first stop shall be the Skins section…where AHHH…only women skins and they only have two. Very well since the two they have are unoriginal and only differ because of the colors and one female has a tattoo. Ho hum…so far, not liking…moving on. The Buy section…MELLIE likes to shop so, lets hope for some good buys for Mellie’s Sims. Since I am losing my cherry with this site, I shall hit the most appropriate section first…the bedroom. One bed, poiple (I hope this misspelling was on purpose…). Not good. Moving on – fast! Okay…I am trying to calm down…two sections in buy and nothing good as of yet. AHHH…wait, ahh, awesome (I hate this word but shall use it here) bar set in the kitchen area (downloading it now)…but that is all. I know this site has been around for awhile, PLEASE let it get better!!! Okay, okay…taking some deep breaths. Painting section a little gaudy but there is a gorgeous "Strawberry Blonde" painting that I know one of my SIMS will just love…must download. OH TWO "Strawberry Blonde" paintings, and DOLLZ!!! VERY NICE! I am feeling some improvements coming on! Yes indeed. Moments of pleasure are being had in the Painting section…very nice indeed. I adore Dollz…and the Leather painting, very nice. Perhaps I’ll stay in this area for awhile…little scared that this was the best they had to offer. But NO – I shall plunge on…OH HELL. Let down. Must move on…the BUILD section…please bring me some pleasure and not pain!!! I am having immense pain here…REALLY not a good immense pain either. Only one door, very hideous at that (and I love the color green), the floors some good, most scary…gaudy…my SIMS would die from the blinding colors alone! But again, some nice floors among the hideous…you just have to hang in there, you’ll hit a peak once or twice a page. OH – like their pine plank floor…very nice. Matches some walls I already have…or will match. Okay – running from the floor section…into a very nice column. Well done. There is only one…but nice. Ohhh…moving into a very nice section of walls. Again nicely done, not gaudy although they do match the gaudy floors, this is an oddity – the walls are nice, floors gaudy. Strange. The only walls I truly detest are the Christmas walls, which I cannot blame on the Wretched designers…Christmas colors just simply cannot be put together without looking gaudy. Okay – first REALLY enjoyable moment – a wall with sailboats! YES – thank you. Anything that relates to the sea (lighthouses, boats, seashells) – I love (if it is well done) and this wall is. Wretched Sims has now moved up to a rating of 2 – yes, their walls are THAT good. Nicely done. WORK ON THE FLOORS NOW!!! Whew…done with the Build area (oh yes – they have two nice windows if you like the color green)…MOVING ON NOW. The Themes…I am going to be honest before I even look, I normally hate themes (not wall/floor themes/sets just THEMES). I usually can’t use them in my game and most of them are so off the wall I wouldn’t want to if I did use themes…but here goes. I AM KEEPING AN OPEN MIND HERE! Right off the bat I am impressed…a 9-11 Theme…gorgeous painting. Downloading it as I type. Very nice, and emotional. The Adult theme – also impressed and looking forward to more of their paintings. Am a BIG fan of the "dark" artists of past and present…and it looks like WS is expanding on this theme. Should be amazing! ERGH!!! A Christmas theme…now I am not a Grinch but AGAIN…Christmas colors are usually nothing but gaudy when put together and with WS – this is no exception. I do like the poinsettias…very nicely done. Country Theme…skip it. Gothic Theme - amazing paintings in this section. I am not a Goth (far from it) but I this is the type of art I enjoy and with a site name of Wretched Sims this is what I expect from them – the type of objects/skins/walls/floors…dark, broody, adult. I LOVE these "Alice in Wonderland" gothic portraits…freaky. Well done. CHECK THESE OUT…if nothing else on the site. Okay – I have downloaded at least ten painting from the Gothic Theme alone…this automatically moves the site up to a 3 rating. Such great gloom and darkness. OH NO…I have left pleasureville to enter "Lord of the Rings"…too many "Lord of the Rings" (and "Harry Potter") themes happening right now. GET ORIGINAL PEOPLE!!! The paintings are nice but again, too many "Lord of the Rings" themes happening now for me to appreciate anything unless it is unique and done brilliantly. Okay – the rest of their themes (Movies – basically a tribute to "Lord of the Rings", Medieval, New Age and Sports) very well done. Nice paintings/pictures in all of them. Not as impressive as the Gothic theme but good nonetheless. Only problem I have – they aren’t really themes…they are paintings. But oh well, they are nicely categorized, easily accessible and well worth it. Next stop – houses. OH – MELLIE LIKEE!!! Realistic – even the large ones, and well put together. Nice Nice Nice. OH NO – Christmas houses! AHHH! Clicking fast…PROGRAMS. Almost done. Okay – I am not a computer or program genius but basically what they are offering here is links to the programs that most of us have already (WHICH IS GOOD! There are always newbies!)…Sim File Cops, SimExplorers, BluePrint. SOO – that ends my visit with Wretched Sims. All and all, I give it a 3. My advice, stick with the dark, gloomy aspects and fix up those floors! Also dump the skins. You obviously have much more to offer without them. (3)
