Review: Wytch's Brew. |
I am a newbie to this site – for the most part. I previewed it as a part of the weekly voting at The Sims Outlook but did not get a chance to look closer at some of the items…so here you are, with me, traveling into another site for the first time. First thing I notice – lovely front page, great colors, great design and a cute witch theme. Everything is easily laid out for you to find, including links to their favorite sites on the front page. What Wytch’s Brew has to offer is a bit of everything…walls/floors/objects/houses/etc PLUS ART! I am heading to this section first, skipping over the walls/floors for the moment – I love posters and art for my SIMS home, especially movie posters since I am a movie freak. First thing noted is a disclaimer…which is good…announcing that some photos may contain nudity. Right off the bat – responsibility in warning people who are easily offended to avoid this area. Too bad if they do because right away – in general art – I am falling in love (and downloading) most of their paintings/photos…my personal favorite happen to be Medusa, Americana Heart (yes, I am a Goth Loving Country Style Person – strange I know!!!), AIDS Memorial Quilt Ribbon (THANK YOU FOR THIS!), and Guardian Angel. The Kid Friendly Art is absolutely cute and contains seven, YES SEVEN, Scooby Doo posters (I love Scooby Doo! Wish someone would make a Scooby Doo themed children’s bedroom! HINT HINT HINT!!!). I absolutely LOVE their cheesy 70’s Disaster Movie posters…it is sad to know that I own all these movies, and love them, so of course, I had to download the entire set! The other sections in Art also contain nicely done art work (and the Amy Brown section is amazing!)…all and all a VERY well done selection! Now I shall head back and work in order! The Walls and Floors section – again, absolutely beautiful walls and floors (and they come in SETS!!! Yeah!!!). My personal favorite happens to be Dream Wall and Floor on the first page – I also love the Starry Nights Wall and Floor set…but all of them are great! They also have – FINALLY SOMEONE DECIDES TO DO THIS – floors that match the mostly hideous walls that Maxis gave us in the first game. The floors are far from hideous! Maybe I’ll start using those walls now! Okay – now Skins. This is going to be the rough spot for me since, if you have read my reviews, I am extremely picky with skins. Just remember…this is just my opinion!!! I suggest whether I like something or not you check the site out for yourself to make your own opinion! Now that this has been said – the Skin section…I am going to say DARN IT for one reason – they have GREAT skins but only a SMALL selection. UGH! Really remarkable skins for women (as well as a little girl’s outfit) – I can’t even pick a favorite, although the Floral Flares keep screaming at me. Just a great little selection. I do hope that they make more skins. Obviously they are extremely talented in this area (as well as the others I have reviewed thus far!). Okay – before I move onto the house I have to make my ONE complaint so far – I do not like the fact that a new window opens each time I click on a section, of course I will get over this but it is a bit of an annoyance and my computer is a piece so, it has crashed because of this – but again, I will get over it…I am just warning others who may have the same problem (crappy computer) as me. YES – absolutely FABULOUS houses!!! Not a large selection but what they do have…just amazing and they come with SHOPPING lists so when you put them into your game, half of the house isn’t missing because you don’t have a certain set of windows or doors downloaded. Just lovely. My personal favorite is the house for Lot 9…a lovely little home! Lets see – what is left…I really don’t want this tour to end, this is such a cute little site. We have Décor, Sets, Lighting/Sculptures, Misc. Furniture and Rugs…well obviously I am going to head to Décor. Well, hmmm…other than the two banners announcing "It’s A Boy" and "It’s A Girl" I am not really impressed with this section. The objects appear unnatural for some reason…of course, in the actual game they may not appear that way but these look like screenshots from the game…so, I am just going to move on. Oh well…they have made up for their Décor section with their Sets section – very attractive sets. I really like the cream lilies set! Just gorgeous! And the Dream Set – which matches my favorite Wall/Floor set…just amazing. Onto the Lighting…first off, LOVE the Lighthouse Lamp! I adore Lighthouses…so, this is going to make a great addition to my game. Also, an amazing American Eagle lamp…very nicely done. And the Dragon Lamp is just CUTE. There is the same problem here though that I found with the Décor section, some of the objects appear unnatural…but that is okay because they clearly make up for it with the other items! Unfortunately I am not too impressed with the Outdoor Objects – again, they appear unnatural but I do like the brick walls…very nice. The rug section – amazingly original rugs here…they have "Game Mats" – rugs cloned from the dollhouse so you can play the games (Monopoly, Clue, Taboo) pictures on the rugs. Very unique! And yes, I did download all of them. The dollhouse gets boring! As for the Misc. Furniture (No, I didn’t forget!) some nice additional furniture for the SIMS home…also some glass tables. Just a little section of knick knacks that didn’t fit anywhere else. All and all I enjoy this site…very well done, clear objects, beautiful skins, gorgeous wall and floor sets…a very nice site that I hope to be seeing more of. My advice for this site…keep up the good work! I may have some problems with the unnatural looking objects but otherwise everything is well done. Bravo! (4)
