8-9-01 (11:08 p.m.) I always wanted to be everything, but I wanted it to be easy. I wanted to be a doctor, a writer, a poet, a guitarist, a singer, a dj, a bartender, a cinematographer, a director. Everything. But I didn't want to take lessons, find connections, spend years doing nothing, just for my one chance. I just finished watching "Dream with the Fishes" I encourage you to watch it...in fact...I encourage you to just go raid the "sundance channel recommends" section of your local video store...if your local video store doesn't have that kind of category, then it sucks. Dream with the fishes, is about life...it's about living...it's about getting off your ass, instead of just watching everyone else live their life. It's about me, sort of. Every movie, every song, every story, every poem, if they're good, they're about you...that's the definition of good art. It's something about you, maybe it's not what the artist intends, but when you experience that art, it tells you something about yourself, or it reminds you of yourself, or it makes you long for something you don't have. That's more or less all I had to say, but I wanted to write it down before I did the dishes, so I wouldn't forget. I forgot it anyways, but that's not the point. |
