Hello! My name is Sadie! I am a 1 year old (and 7 months) Blue Merle Great Dane. I weigh about 130 lbs. My Mom and Dad got me from Great Dane Rescue. I am so glad they saved me. They are great!! I enjoy going for rides in the car with Mom, Dad and my brother Alex. They took me and my uncle Julius (another dane who you will meet under the grandma and grandpa link) to a festival here to watch fireworks for the 4th of July. It tooks us 2 hours to get from the entrance of the park to the lake front. We are that popular!! Alot of people ask where our saddles are and if we charge for rides. Mom and Dad have to buy at least 5o lbs worth of food at least once a week. I tend to eat alot! My favorite snacks are Ice cubes, Beggin strips, Old roy dog biscuits and pig ears. I enjoy playing tug of war, chasing the kitty, trying to steal Lancelots and Tiki's food, and just cuddling with my family. Oh and Tennis Balls. I LOVE tennis balls. ~ The Great dane is a sleek, athletic dog tightly bonded to humans,                capable of great courage, and known among fanciers as "the Apollo of       Dogs"

~ The Blue Merle is not a recognized color by the AKC. They can be            AKC registered but not shown in the ring. ( Personally, I think that is         silly)

~ The Great Dane comes from Germany.

~ The breed originated from dogs of the mastiff type and was developed
to hunt wild boar, guard castles, pull carts, and participate in battle.

~ The Germans never did anything by halves, so the "Deutsche Dogge"         lived up to its promise as a fierce, courageous canine- a "super dog"-
that was designed to hunt the savage and unpredictable European Wild
boar. A beast so well-armed with tusks that could rip a dog to shreds.

~ The Danes ears may be cropped (cut and shaped) or not. Wild Boars          found the uncropped ears a handy target to grab. Cropping developed
to eliminate the ear flap and thus spare the dog the pain of it getting
ripped off in a fight. The early ear crop left little to be seized. Today, the ear crop is cosmetic and sculpts the ear into an upright, pointed appendage that adds to the style of the dog.

~ The Great dane is a great house dog. Puppies tend to be clumsy, but          the adults are surefooted and seldom knock things over by walking            around.

~ Above all and in conclusion, The Great dane is a people-dog. A gentle      giant. They need space to accommodate there long legs and large body, but like nothing better than to spend time with there family.
