"Who paid for it you mean? Well that's the big question." Nathan Spring
Costumes
In May 1991 the BBC held an auction with Bonhams to dispose of some of it's costumes and included items from Dr Who, Blakes 7 and Star Cops. I'm not sure how many Star Cops lots there were but thanks to Nick for sending me this;
341 Hanimed spacesuit worn by Anna Shoun in 'In Warm Blood' and spacesuit worn by Ferguson (2)
342 Collection of two blue Tunnel Authority shirts, one purple spacesuit, one Pacific Space Line quilted waistcoat, one grey quilted spacesuit and heavyweight grey spacesuit with tubing attached, used in 'Intelligent Listening for Beginners' (approx 6).
I don't remember seeing a purple space suit in any of the existing episodes so I wonder if it was for 'Death on the Moon'. The costume interview mentions cluedo and covers; blue, yellow, red and white. This leaves green and PURPLE! Maybe the murder victim would have been wearing it or would he have been in black like the victim in cluedo?
This must have been fairly sucessful as in August 1992 Bonhams held another auction and had more BBC science fiction costumes for sale including these Star Cops items;
586 Two padded brown jackets with matching trousers worn by Customs Officers and Psychiatrist in an unscreened episode. (2) £50-80
587 Four sets of biege Technician and Customs uniform jackets and trousers. (4) £50-80
588 A blue jumpsuit worn by Britsh character Devis, with matching jacket and watch. (3) £50-80

594 Three blue jumpsuits from Spacestation Ronald Reagan, worn by characters Griffin (Station Commander), Lavenstein and Lennox. (3) £50-80
Ebay has had several items for sale.
A good place to look if you're still interested is the Starburst interview with Lynda Woodfield, the costume designer, in issue 110 (Oct 87) or without the pictures on the Star Cops DVD.
Models
I asked Mike Kelt, the visual effects designer, what had happend to all the models. He replied "I don't know really, I certainly don't have any of them. They tend to get picked up so that if there was another series they would have them. They would all have been crated up and put into a visual effects store at this time. I've got a feeling the moon buggy was put on show in the foyer but I don't know what would have happened to them.
A lot of the deep space spaceships were all deliberately based on geodesic shapes so they all fitted together so they could lock onto a frame so that you could reuse bits of models too. Using different pods to build the next freighter, but they probably got thrown away at the end of the day."
As it turns out the moon buggy at least is still presumably with the BBC. It was used in the background in some of the interviews for The Cult of Star Cops show.
I did find this snippet relating to Dimensions in Time, a Dr Who charity special in 1993;
"During the 2013 scenes, we see a futuristic tube train go over the Bridge in Bridge Street, a shot that took a day to achieve and used a model left over from Star Cops".
I was contacted by Andy, one of the gentlemen pictured above doing his best catalogue pose, who said, "I had to break up the space station and turn it into something else for Tomorrows World :-( I still have quite a few models and bits from it that I kept at the time." He was kind enough to supply some pics as well. Thanks Andy.
Items
Well I only know what happend to one item from Star Cops, box. He was used to form the talking toaster in Red Dwarf which has been purchased by American lawyer Joel Benson.
Anyone else with further information please let me know. Thanks!
