For more information on these tours and special events, please contact either Ellyn Batko, Special Events Co-Chairman, at (847) 945-5570 or Todd Fisher, Co-Chairman at 773-807-5178 or Marengo@aol.com. Ellyn or Todd will have tour prices and can take advance reservations for all tours. Tickets for Wicked, Cubs, and Sox games are limited so you may want to reserve early to insure your place.

Restaurant bus tickets ($2.00 round trip) will be sold at the tournament. The tournament committee is substantially subsidizing the cost of the buses. We hope that tournament participants will take maximum advantage of this service. Buses will run to Little Italy on Sunday, July 16th; Greektown on Tuesday, July 18th; and Chinatown on Saturday, July 22nd. Trip tickets will include a list of restaurants in the area, a small map to help you get to the destination of your choice, and coupons from some of the listed restaurants.

The Art Institute Tour will be more than just “art.” It will include drinks at the prestigious Chicago Athletic Club. We will take the short walk over to the Art Institute and visit the world renowned galleries of the French Impressionists.  This has no equal, outside of the Musee d'Orsay, in Paris! We will also visit several other galleries as time permits, including the Winslow Homer's must-see Grant Wood's "American Gothic."

The White Sox and Cubs are sold out for the year. We had to pull strings to get game tickets. Both teams are very popular and you won’t want to pass up this opportunity to see them play.

The Frank Lloyd Wright/Hemingway House Tour will take you out to Oak Park, one of Chicago’s close Western suburbs. Join us in visiting two of Chicagoland's favorite sons, Ernest Hemmingway and Frank Lloyd Wright. We will take a bus out to Oak Park and tour the birth home of the Pulitzer Prize winning author. The home is a wonderful example of an upper middle class, turn of the century lifestyle and has been lovingly restored. We will then travel a couple of blocks to the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio. Wright did some of his most important architectural work here and incorporated many of his ideas in to his own home. Perhaps more than any other building, this showcases his genius. We will head back to the Hyatt in time for afternoon Bridge. En route we will enjoy a box lunches.

Wicked is one of the most popular Musicals Chicago has offered. It is the story of the witches from the Wizard of Oz.

The Gangster/Fort Dearborn Tour will take you to some of Al Capone’s old haunts. Chicago was the personification of the roaring twenties and the wild times surrounding the bootlegging.  Names such as Al Capone and Frank Nitti terrorized the town. The mob owned the city during the era and left their mark up to the present day. Come with us to tour the key locations where many of the storied events occured, led by one the world's leading authorities, Mark Gaines. It is the Valentine's Day's massacre all over again for you!

Since Chicago is a well-known “melting pot,” we have chosen to use an ethnic theme for our Special Events. The various ethnic dancers and musicians will perform for tournaments attendees in the evenings (as listed above) after the evening sessions.

Second City, Chicago’s most famous comedy troupe and springboard for several of your modern day comedians, will perform for us twice: Saturday, July 15th, and Friday, July 21st. The Chicago Contract Bridge Association is sponsoring this event in honor of its 50th Anniversary. Two performances should afford tournament participants the best chance to see the troupe. If you miss Saturday’s performance, be sure to attend the one on the following Friday.

We want your “Chicago experience” to be complete. We have chosen tours and special events you and your whole family can enjoy. We hope you will participate.
