Incorporating Alumni on the Regional Level

Mission

The purpose of the Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Association is to support and promote the people, programs and priorities of the Phi Theta Kappa Society, fostering and encouraging the communication and affiliation among all alumni and friends. These Alumni and Friends have valuable contributions to make to this Association through continuing the experience of fellowship by working with others who have shared in the Phi Theta Kappa experience. Together the alumni and friends can help ensure a bright future for a new generation of scholars and leaders.

Membership

Any member of Phi Theta Kappa, who upon leaving community college was a member of good and regular standing and who was enrolled for at least one year in a two-year college, meets alumni status and is eligible to participate in alumni programs. Also eligible for participation are all honorary members of Phi Theta Kappa. Membership is open to all qualified persons without regard to race, creed, religion, sexual orientation or national origin. There shall be no dues for membership in the International Alumni Association. The broad-based alumni program offers alumni several categories of membership from which to choose. Alumni may choose to be a:
  1. Member at large of the International Alumni Association.
  2. Member of a senior institution-based, community-based or regional-based alumni association.
  3. Member at large and of a local alumni association simultaneously.

How can alumni assist in supporting your region's programs and priorities?

Alumni can truly be a valuable resource. They welcome the opportunity to give back to Phi Theta Kappa because the Society has given so much to them. Here are just a few ways alumni may continue to serve: Chapter Advisors or the Director of Development at Headquarters can help you identify alumni in your area. You may even want to consider allowing alumni the opportunity to subscribe to your publications and thus solidify their commitment to your region.

How may we honor our alumni internationally?

Alumni Recognition is a program designed to recognize the outstanding services and programs provided by Phi Theta Kappa Alumni and Alumni Associations. Official recognition is given during the Alumni Awards Banquet held on the final evening of the Society's Annual International Convention. The application deadline is a minimum of 30 days prior to the Annual International Convention.
