2001 Officers
I began taking courses at Wright College in the Fall Semester of 1999 after completing two semesters at Columbia College. Due to a change in major, I decided to earn an Associate of Arts Degree at Wright. With the continuous support of my family, I have strived to do my best throughout my education. I have maintained a 4.0 cumulative G.P.A at Wright College and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa in the Spring of 2000. I served Theta Omega as Service Team Leader in the Fall of 2000 and became the America Reads Officer in December 2000.
Phi Theta Kappa has added to the excellent education I am receiving at Wright College. Through Theta Omega, I have been able to utilize and enhance my leadership and scholarship skills. The fellowship of Phi Theta Kappa has given me the opportunity to make strong connections with others and long-lasting friendships. Being a part of the Service Team, I have spent many hours helping others. I tutor every Monday evening at Youth Outreach Services in the computer lab and tutor third graders at Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School in reading every Tuesday morning.
The excellent role models I encountered at Wright have aided the pursuit of my goals of becoming an English and Literature Professor. I hope to come back and teach at Wright College after earning a Master's Degree. I plan to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, where I intends to earn a B.A in English. I anticipate earning a M.A in Literature at the University of Chicago. Professor Buckley has encouraged me to apply to these fine schools. He has been my role model since I was in his English 102 class. My compassion and dedication to learning has guided my decision to enter the field of Education.
