Madison Linking With The Link Crew By: Melissa Klase
Link Crew made a big splash at this year’s orientation on August 27, 2003. Orientation is designed for new Madison students to give them a little taste of high school. “I think this year’s orientation went extremely well.” Said Ms. Stroomer, one of the two Link Crew coordinators. Over 300 students attended, almost double the attendance of last year. Link Crew is a membership program aimed to mentor new Madison students. The Link Crew leaders (mentors) are juniors and seniors; some recommended by teachers, and all with at least a 2.0 G.P.A. There are about 60 leaders and all new students are invited to be “linked”. Ms. Stroomer and Ms. Rice went to training to learn how to coordinate Link Crew. The Link Crew leaders themselves went through 2 days of training to be able to lead the activities at orientation. There are about 300 schools with a Link Crew nation wide. To join this program, you must attend the meetings. To join this program, you must attend the necessary meetings.
