Most movies always follow the same plot line. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, something horrible happens, they get over it and they come out of the situation having learned some important life lessons. The movie “Uptown Girls” starring Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning, is a perfect example. A Rock Star’s daughter meets someone who takes advantage of her and she whines up broke. So she has to get a job. While working as a nanny an 8-year-old girl helps her find herself. Then it all ends happily ever after. Now why does this sound so familiar? One word…Cinderella. The movie “Uptown Girls” is simply a modern day rewrite. Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) is the only child of a rock star. When both her parents die in a plane crash, she we left with a collection of her father’s guitars and a one million dollar trust fund. She then proceeded to fritter the money away, as in one scene shown, on Chinese food and worthless piles of crap. She then discovers that her remaining money has been stolen by a mysterious character simply named Bob. She was nothing more than a pack rat that had slob-like tendencies |
