Basketball is just getting started, and no one has really seen what our Madison Varsity team can do. Our school has a returning starter, who has one of the best jump shots around high school basketball, named Nelson Bavonghkhoun. The team lacks in height, but these players are giving there all with what they have. “We have a very athletic team, when we figure out how to play a full game of defense we will be tough to beat,” says coach Rick Jackson.
Our Madison Varsity team is filled with a lot of quick guys, who hustle. Athletes like Mike Montero, Travis Gibbs, and Jordan Preston. Then we have players like Dante Dunaway, Mycheal Creedon, Sean Douglas, and Duane Owens who all play good post game and defense. “Our league has improved greatly this year, and our preseason tournament will help us prepare for the very tough league,” another quote from head coach Rick Jackson.
Madison’s first showdown was up at San Marcos, which ended in a loss. Our guys have bounced back from the loss by beating Morse, Southwest El Centro, Castle Park, and they killed Santa just recently on January 6.
