Paint on canvas, not personal property!!!!
By Kate Bevis

Why has living near a school in San Diego become a graffiti curse?  Why do people feel the need to tag other peoples hard earned personal property? This writer is glad my family does not live in close proximity to a school. My dad has better things to do than paint over disgusting graffiti every week.
Some people believe that tagging is a sign of respect and claiming of turf. Whomever taught these ideals must have had a screw loose. I believe respect should be earned from others who are already respected in the community, furthermore turf should be purchased with earned monies, not claimed, This is not the Oklahoma land rush of the 1800s.

This writer believes that tagging is an ugly form of expression, some may argue that the artwork is pretty. My reply would be to present your artistic side on canvas. Pablo Picasso probably could have done a really nice painting on some ones fence, but became world famous expressing himself on canvas. Plus it is illegal, vice grafitti which is not.
You can be arrested for tagging and the fines are quite severe, is it worth the possible trouble for you and your family?
In closing, most people don’t care if you come from Clairemont or Linda Vista, so please stop tagging each others neighborhoods. Purchase your paint supplies at Michaels not the local hardware store, you may be surprised what you are capable of creating on canvas instead of a fence or wall.
