Christine Toy Johnson was a finalist in 2000 and 2001 for aMedia's Ammy Awards --honoring Asian Americans in film and television-- for her work on ONE LIFE TO LIVE. She has achieved prominence in the theatrical world as well, making her mark with non-traditional roles in theatres across the country, as well as on and off-Broadway. NYC theatrical highlights include the revivals of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, PACIFIC OVERTURES, GREASE! and the National Asian American Theatre Company's critically acclaimed FALSETTOLAND. Regional favorites include the National Tour of CATS, the East Coast premiere of Philip Kan Gotanda's SISTERS MATSUMOTO (Chiz),three productions of GUYS AND DOLLS (Sarah), two productions of WEST SIDE STORY (Maria), CAROUSEL (Julie), CANDIDE (Cunegonde), HELLO, DOLLY! (Mrs. Molloy), SHE LOVES ME (Amalia) and THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Elsa Schrader) at the Huntington Theatre, Missouri Repertory Theatre, California Music Theatre, the Hangar Theatre, Indiana Rep, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival. Other television and film credits include LAW AND ORDER: SVU, ALL MY CHILDREN, OZ, JUNGLE 2 JUNGLE, CONSPIRACY THEORY, L.I.E., NUNSENSE and NUNSENSE 2. An avid activist for diversity, she is a published journalist and spokesperson on inclusion issues, a producing member of New York Women in Film and Television, a nationally elected Councillor and Co-Chair of the Committee for Racial Equality at Actors' Equity Association, and a board member of the Non-Traditional Casting Project. Christine is the co-producing artistic director of The Tapestry Group in NYC, a new production company dedicated to interweaving diversity and art and was a semi-finalist for the Ford Foundation's "Leadership for a Changing World Award" this year.
