If you're seeking outdoor activies in Lake County there are many excellent possibilities.

Lake County Pathways

Bicyclists, hikers, and walking enthusiasts interested in discovering Lake County will enjoy various public pathways and trails. For free maps call or visit the Visitor's Center. They also have information about Mendicino National Forest, Cow Mountain Recreation Area, and other recreation lands.

Anderson Marsh State Historic Park

[ Marsh Scene ]Several miles of nature trails wind through the 870 acre Anderson Marsh State Historic Park. A vintage farmhouse and a reconstructed Native American Village are on the site along with 27 Native American archaeological sites dating as early as 10,000 years ago. The park also hosts the Blackberry Festival each year.

Boggs Mountain Demonstation State Forest

[ Forest Scene ]Carpeting a mountain ridge a mile north of Cobb on Forestry Road, off Highway 175 , is the Boggs Mountain State Recreation Area. It has 3,493 acres of woodland and 14 miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians.

Clear Lake State Park

Great Blue HeronClear Lake State Park has 300 acres of land at the foot of Mt. Konocti. Campgrounds, nature trails, fishing, swimming, boating and cycling are some of the activities offered. There is a Visitor Center with interpretive displays.

Knoxville Recreation Area

The Knoxville Recreation Area, 17,700 acres of rugged terrain with elevations from 1,000 to 2,000 feet, is located 13 miles from Lower Lake on Morgan Valley Road near the Homestake Mining Company. The Lower Hunting Creek Camp has 5 shelter sites and some facilities while the 3 other camps are primitive hunting camps with no facilities. There are trails for Off-Highway Vehicles and areas for Target Shooting.

Boat rentals and boat ramps are available at marinas and lakeside resorts on Clear Lake and other lakes in Lake County.

[ Sailboat ]The Konocti Bay Sailing Club hosts 'The Monster' Sailing Regatta and the Konocti Cup Marathon.

Fishing

In Clear Lake fish for bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill. Blue Lakes has trout, catfish, bluegill and crappie. Highland Springs Reservoir has catfish, bass, crappie and bluegill. Indian Valley Reservoir has trout, bass, catfish and perch. Lake Pillsbury has bass and sunfish.

Smith's Trout Farm is located on Western Mine Road off Highway 29 south of Middletown.

Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course is 5 miles north of Middletown on Highway 29. It has 18 holes of Championship Golf and a full-service Golf Shop, Driving Range, Restaurant and Lounge.

Hoberg-Forest Lake Golf Course is a 9 hole course, 8 miles northwest of Middletown on Highway 175 and Golf Road. There is a Restaurant and Lounge. Lessons are available by appointment.
