Assisi was the last little trip the group took before leaving for our return to the USA. It was another pretty Italian town located on a quiet hilltop. The main attractions were, of course, the churches of St. Francis. We were given a special tour by a friar from one of the neighboring orders, who also happened to be from America. Later we dined at a beautiful outdoor restaurant covered over by trellised vines and one of our party, who was an opera major, serenaded us. The friar joined her in a couple of songs and then an Italian gentlemen dining there with his family sang a melody of Italian songs in which we all joined in! It was a delightful end to a fanastic trip.
