Elam Cheney was born May 16, 1825 in Freedom, New York. He married Martha Taylor October 7, 1856. He was among the pioneers who traveled West so that they may worship according to the dictates of their own conscience. He and his family settled in Pinedale, Arizona where he died March 24, 1912.
