My grandfather's ancestors come from Scotland, England and Switzerland
Many of them left their homes to follow the saints to a place where they could worship freely as they wished. They followed the advice of the living prophet and traveled with the Mormon pioneers to Utah. They settled in small towns in southern Utah where my grandfather was born.

Hugh was born January 5, 1900 in Fairview, Sanpete County, Utah. He was sealed to his wife, Ella Gladys Barker on September 2, 1905. They had five children: Robert Hugh, Ella Florine, Orrin Dale, John Carroll, and Terry Gene Anderson. Grandpa was a teacher of Industrial Education. he had gained his education at Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah. He did wood and metal working. Grandpa and Grandma lived in the Anderson home in Fairview, Utah where they raised sheep, chickens, vegetables, and had beautiful roses and other flowers. There were apricot, plum and apple trees on their lot. Grandpa loved eating and he especially enjoyed his wife's yummy baked goods and mutton gravy. He worked hard to provide for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. I especially remember the holidays when the whole family would gather around Grandma and Grandpa's dining room table to partake of the wonderful food the Lord has blessed them with. He could play the mandolin and sing. He is fondly remembered by all who knew him.
