Involving, dancing, sensual,
romantic, lyric... brazilian music is rich and has a lot of
different styles.

The strong influence of African rythms,
brought by the slaves, is remarkable in the "samba", our
'registered trademark', played with typical percussion
instruments as tamborim, pandeiro, cuíca, agogô, timba, surdo.
In the beginning of the 60's, was born here the "bossa nova"
- cool, soft, with dissonants and harmonies that remind jazz.
But there is much more. From the North-East of the country,
we have "lambada", "forró", "axê", "frevo". There are modern bands
playing brazilian rock, reggae, pop...
Among our composers
and musicians there are great names as Tom Jobim, Gilberto Gil,
Caetano Veloso, Almir Sater,Djavan, Carlos Lyra, Toquinho,
Paulinho Nogueira, Rita Lee, Dorival Caymmi, Adoniran Barbosa,
Cartola, Roberto Carlos... and I'm only citing some ones!! Among
the singers, Elis Regina, João Gilberto, Maria Bethania,
Gal Costa, ZéLuiz...
In the classic genre, we have the
beautiful compositions from Villa Lobos.

brazilian rythms and styles. The reproduction sounds different
in each computer,
and -- what a pity! -- you won't hear the
voices and original recorders...we are still limited by the
machine!...
But, anyway, there are nice arranges and you will
have an idea about MPB
