Obsidian formation near Newbury Crater, South of Bend, Oregon


In the Newbury Crater Volcanic Monument, there is a remarkable ancient obsidian lava flow. In pre-colonial times, local Indian tribes used the obsidian for arrowheads. One has to be careful walking here, as a fall would produce nasty cuts.
