History and Development

Bubble Tea was first launched in Taiwan. The tea is characterized by some "pearls" being mixed with the Bubble Tea. Taiwanese people regard it as a local beverage. So, the price is not high at HK$5 each. Moreover, there are about five different tastes. The Bubble Tea can be found practically everywhere in Taiwan. It was sold by the hawkers or in many food shops.

When Bubble Tea entered the Hong Kong market, it is trading under the franchised form.

In Hong Kong, the "pearl" is the selling point of the Bubble Tea which offers about 10 different tastes. The tea has now been positioned as a Taiwanese special beverage. Under the franchise arrangement, its price is now between HK$17 - 27 each. Obviously, there is a possibility that Taiwanese Bubble Tea can be extended to other countries. But all of the future developments depends very much on the success of present development in Hong Kong.
