Mount Bromo
Bromo is undoubtedly the most popular tourist attraction in East Java. At 2392 meters, Bromo is not the highest peak on Java, but because of it's unique location and it's legends, it is certainly the most reputable. The Kasodo ceremony is held each December to commemorate the legends of Bromo.
As part of our honeymoon, my husband and I visited Bromo. The sunrise view of the crater was spectacular!
Central Java

Borobudur
The Borobudur Hindu Temple near Yogjakarta is one of the largest, oldest and most beautiful Hindu temples in the world. There are many temples and artifacts in Central Java, but Borobudur is the key tourist attraction of the area.
West Java
Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia is located in West Java. Another large city in West Java is Bandung.
