Halawa Valley was once a thriving place in ancient days. Even up to 1955 the valley still had many taro patches. Prior to that before 1877 there were around 1,032 taro patches. Most of the land was covered with taro. The physical condition of the valley has changed over the years. The stream is much lower than before.
Below is Halawa Bay. Halawa was the second best place on Moloka`i where the Moloka`i chiefs like to surf. |
