Goethals Memorial School

[Return]

The junior dormitory. The top floor was divided into two large dormitories and included the locker room, washing and toilet facilities for the primary division. This dormitory is where I spent my sleeping hours during my early years at Goethals. One of my dorm mates was Micheal D'Cruz. As little as we were, we soon struck up a friendship, which lasted till he left school after completing Grade 3. Two years later his school (Calcutta) 'scout troop' happened to stop by Goethals. We met again for a brief moment but we were both too shy to talk to each other!!! That's the last time I saw Micheal, would be nice if we could meet up again someday.

The ground floor accommodates the "box room" and the senior boys' lockers along with the shower and washing facilities. Just beside the stairways (to the right ) an important spot designated for the "roti wallas". They would sell at a very reasonable price the most delicious 'cream rolls' and 'meat patties' and a great assortment of goodies.

Photo per kind favour of Penjo Chhimi.
