Our Adventure Ends

Sue, Amanda & Adam

The morning was a mad scramble getting ready to go to the airport. Amanda's jeans were not dry, Adam refused to get out of bed and David's computer started to act up (it has totally crashed now).

We got to the airport just as the plane was boarding, so after a quick, tearful goodbye we ran through the gates and boarded our plane. And then we waited. And waited. It ended up there was a passenger to still board and they held the plane up for this passenger. As a result the plane was late arriving in New Zealand and late departing for LA. When we arrived red-eyed in LA we had to race to the other terminal (after collecting our heavy luggage and going through customs, recheck our luggage and run to find the Air Canada counter) and once again we made it just in time to catch our flight. Our flight arrived on time in Toronto and it was great cause we were first through customs and our luggage was first off the plane. We were out of the passenger area before they even updated the sign saying the plane landed!

The weird thing is that our plane left Melbourne on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm ... we then left LA on Saturday afternoon at 12:45 pm and we arrived in Toronto at 8 pm on Saturday evening. Even now, two days later, we can't keep the days straight.

Special Notes

We would like to thank a few people for making this adventure possible. Thanks go out to John for allowing us to go during such a busy work time and for his support during our adventure. Thanks go out to my parents (grandparents) for lending us the money for the airfare and for keeping us up to date with all the happenings back in Canada.

In addition thank you to all our Australian friends for being such wonderful hosts.

A special thank you to the Mitten family for having us in your home and making us feel like family. Adam still talks about the dogs and Amanda is hoping to see Erica again soon. We notice you didn't tell us that it is snake mating season though! Hmmmm. I believe our friendship will continue despite the miles and that someday we will all be playing trivial pursuit together again! By the way Russell, is your cheese still tasty? and the weather fine?

It was wonderful to see an old friend again and Rob, you are just as wonderful as ever! I'm sorry we put you through a hard day of shopping though (not really). Maybe the morgue tour should have been after the shopping tour. We could have put your feet on ice for awhile!

It was so nice to finally meet Victoria and her daughter Ebony. I used to talk often to Vic & Ebony online when I frequented MSN. We really enjoyed the time we spent with you. Next time, lets leave the men at home or in the pub! (just kidding ... who would carry the bags?)

We are sorry we didn't have time to see JB and Jess again. We had a great time at Southbank on the first day we were there and we had truly hoped to get out and see their new place that is being built. Unfortunately three weeks is just not long enough. I love the tradition that has developed that you meet us at the airport. By the way JB, did you finally eat the candy?

The Perkins family was another family who made us feel very welcome. They surprised us at the airport (it was funny since Dallas was the first person Amanda saw .. of course he is almost 6'8" tall) and we finally got to put faces to the people we have talked to on the phone. We had such a good time with Geoff, Anne, Dallas and Kimberly during the time we spent in Melbourne, but unfortunately our time together was much too short. We are looking forward to seeing you again someday!

And to David, thank you. You have made us laugh, cry and be children inside. You are welcome at our campfire anytime. Love Sue, Amanda & Adam
