I have been a Road Rules fan since the first episode with Mark, Los, etc., and this has been so far the best final episode of Road Rules that I have seen in a long time. I was very touched with the ending of their journey. I almost got teary-eyed, and I
m a guy, so I didn't. It was sad for them to leave because I think that in my mind they created a bond that will never go away. The experience was overwhelming. Everything that they did during the trip was fascinating and exciting. The missions were f
r more incredible and dealt with all types of people, from poor little Vietnamese kids to the lower class South Africans. They got to experience a trip of a lifetime; something that they will not get to experience for years to come. Although I thought th
t their "handsome reward" was somewhat odd, I expected it to be something bigger, but the computers were all good.
People really found their true selves during the trip, especially the trip back home. And that is what life is mainly all about; finding your true self, and learning to love who you are. I feel like they have become a family to me, too, and that I wil
never get to see the six of them again in a long time. I think that there will never be a Road Rules more heart-warming, more compelling, and more compasionnate than Road Rules Semseter @ Sea. I also commend them on a job well done for all of the thing
they went through emotionally and personally. I wish them much happiness and success in the future.

This was my first experience with Road Rules and I was glued to the tv set for the SAS series. It was better than a soap opera. I was deeply moved and impressed with the honesty and courage of the six students. They are to be commended for an excellent jo
of educating the world while they were being educated about the world. I feel a personal connection to them all and wish them well on their life journey. Pawel, Shawn, Pua, Ayanna and Veronica I love and appreciate each of you.I live in Seattle and wishe
I could have been at port to meet you when you came in. I felt like you were part of my family, I cried every time you cried. The whole experience was deeply moving to me. I only have high praise for ROAD RULES< SAS...... Congrats on a job well done.

This season of Road Rules was something to watch. It was WAY BETTER than the last one, and I think that they made up for the last Road Rules really well. The characters for Semester at Sea were very good, and it seemed like a soap opera in the making: t
ey seemed like they were very hard to get along with, but all in all, at the end of the trip, they got to find out more about each other, and how they felt about each other as a group. Some of the episodes were very good, others sucked, and yet some were
dying-to-miss! But all in all, I think that the whole experience of Road Rules-Semester at Sea was a good one for the six of them. After the whole experience, people really found out their true selves, and their true colors finally came out.
If I were to give a character synopsis of each character, I would have to say this about each of the characters of Road Rules-Semester at Sea:
Ayanna: A strong, independent girl from Howard University who was never exposed to people outside her race. She was a bit self-sided, and it brought a lot of conflict with herself and the group as well. She was a good person though, but she needed to c
ntrol her temper some of the time. Some of the times that she went in rage was for petty things; others were for meaningful things, but she learned from her mistakes at the end. Her hate for Veronica grew as the trip went on. It reached its peak on two
occasions: one was the accusation of her voodoo, and the other was the accusation against Veronica of plagarism. At the end of the trip, she put all of that hatred beside her and the two of them became best of friends.
Moral: Even though you may have beef (hatred) with that person, in the end, you will become best of friends.
----------
Pawel: The photojournalist who makes a living by taking pictures. He seemed a little bit too happy with himself, but at the end when he made his confession towards the whole group, he admitted that there were some times that he felt a little bit angry w
th himself, and it was okay for him to be angry, but not all of the time. It seems like he was "putting on a facade" of always being happy all of the time, and never being angry and pissed, especially in Kenya when he thought he was going to win the came
a, in which Veronica won the camera (actually, she didn't care about winning the camera). This made Pawel very angry inside, but he shaded it with happiness.
Moral: There are times to be happy, and there are times to be angry, but you cannot be happy 100% of the time, and you cannot be angry 100% of the time, so you got to equal your happiness with your angry so that they can balance with each other and you w
ll be 100% of your true self.
----------
Pua: Her character was very young one, and all throughout the trip, she grew more and more with herself. Her best friend was Ayanna, but she also came into grips with Veronica. After the voodoo incident with Ayanna, it seemed like their friendship was
n peril or put on hold. She was caught in the middle between her and Veronica, and didn't know who to belive. She gave Ayanna another chance to build that friendship, and it paid off. But her friendship with Veronica towards the end of the trip was on
he rock, for Pua discovered that she lied to her. And the trust she had for Veronica was lost after that, but she coped with that, and they moved on. There was a time when she was two-faced with Ayanna, but that seemed to heal through time. Her friends
ip with Ayanna will be an everlasting one.
Moral: Love the ones who will truly love you back, and in the end, you will find out that they will love you more than you will ever know. (Also, on a more sarcastic note, Pua needs to shave her armpits! They are GROSS and NASTY!)
----------
Shawn: This guy was more of a laid back kind of character. He didn't want to become too serious with himself, yet he puts on a persona that is very true and "on the real". He was the type of person that you could call your "homeboy"; somebody that you
an hang out with and just chill. He was also very studious and a hard worker by day, and a freak wildman at night. He was always positive towards the group. He did not want the group to have any tension brought about, and was always ready for a challen
e any day. He also wanted the group to work as a team, and not as a riot.
Moral: Anger will always prevail, but peace will come soon to those that aim for the prize.
----------
Veronica: This UCal-Berkeley girl claims to be the "bitch" of the group, when in fact, she wanted to be the bitch at times. Her character was more of a bitch than herself. There were times that she was the "goody-two-shoes" and Ms. Prissy, but there wer
other times when she got really angry. After she found out that she was confronted by Pua for stealing, she wasn't the bitch anymore; instead, she played the Little Miss Cry-Baby, because she knew that one day, the truth will out against her, and it hurt
real bad for Veronica. She realized that she has never been hurt like that before in her lifetime, and wants to rekindle the friendship and trust she had. She had a persona of "Hey, I'm all that!" to "I'm sorry, can we be friends", and that "all that" p
rsona will not work for all of the people you meet and interact with. At the end of the trip, she found out who she really was personally and emotionally, and throws away all the resentment she had for Ayanna. The two of them became life-long friends at
he end of the whole ordeal.
Moral: Do not put on a false persona of yourself because you will end up hurting the people you love, including your friends and family.
----------
Yes: Sleep all day, party all night. And still end up with a good grade at the end of CORE. It was amazing that he could do that, considering the fact that he does not go to classes most of the time, and rather party than study. Yes' partying also lea
to alcohol counseling and disaster, but he learned from that. His relationship with Alissa turned out to be a long-lasting one throughout the trip. His character was a more laid back character, similar to Shawn. He also, like Shawn, wanted the group t
do teamwork rather than fighting all of the time. He exemplifies courageousness and leadership throughout the trip, and still finds time to balance work and play.
Moral: There is a time to get serious, and there is a time to get down and loose, but there is also a time when you have to balance those two elements together. Have fun while you're young, because you might not get to experience it when you are older.
----------
Road Rules-Semester at Sea Final Synopsis:
In the beginning, people are very friendly and nice, but throughout the course of the time, they turn out not to be the people they are not. There are time when things can get out of proportion, but you've got to realize that when all the chips are dow
, something is bound to happen sooner or later, and it can either help or hurt.
People tend to try to make friends, and end up making enemies. Other times, people can be your friend one minute, and then talk about you behind your back the next minute. You have to truly find out who your true friends are for who they are, and not
or what they are. If you don't find out who they are, then they will find out what you are, and how to manipulate you.
Disputes between people are not helping to solve the problem, but rather making it become worse as it grows. If we can learn how to settle our disputes, then we can grow as a person.
Hatred is another attribute. One person can hate another person for the way that they look, or how they dress, or even how they act towards their friends and other people. We should not learn to hate people, but to love one another. Love is the force
that draws us together, and we must realize that even though we might have hatred for one person, deep down inside you will end up loving that person for not how much hatred you might have against the person, but for how much hatred you have for yourself
ating that person.
In the end, friendship is what really counts. Friendships last for a long time, and they can really bring things into prospective. They are the bond that holds us from not being apart, and the link that chains us together. People must come to grips w
th their friendships and realize that they are the most important part of our life. They are the true meaning of why we will be together forever. These friendships will become the root of joy, success, and happiness.
Tell me what you think of my synopsis. Email me @ kmalston@yahoo.com Thanks!

The episode on Paint or Pay with the elephants was quite absurb for "entertaining television".
If the energy and money that was spent to send folks to take an episode of this was put to correcting the unhumane jestures of the "paint or pay business" - possibly it could would be worth the effort - MORALLY - instead of mere "entertaining television".
Just some advice - if you are looking for folks to enjoy your episode and feel good or "worthy" of viewing it - try other routes then this. There must be something of interest that can give you guys a good educating episode then this one. After watchin
1/2 of it - I had to stop and email you my personal feelings and don't worry - it will not happen again - that is the last of that show for me. Thanks for the warning label on that one.

hey, just in case you're looking for more information about the cast members for your web site. i went to high school with shawn from the latest Road Rules. he's a really down-to-earth, regular guy. he's also a talented actor (which may explain why he wan
ed to participate in something such as road rules). i was in a production of Hair with him, and while i don't know him terribly well, i know him well enough to state that he's definitely a friendly and intelligent guy, and probably one of the more honest
eople ever on the show.

You mentioned in the notes for the Good Morning Vietnam episode that Shawn mentioned to someone that he's 19. When the casting was done for the show, Shawn was 18 which is how old he said during his interview for the casting episode. However, before the
trip, in late October, Shawn turned 19..thus the reasoning for his saying that he's 19. Make sense?

This season of Road Rules is different because they are not forced to live in such close conditions as the Winnie. I'm not sure that I like the fact that they can all socialize with the hundreds of other people on the boat... but at the same time it's aw
some they're traveling around the whole world. I also like the fact that they picked people who are more interesting (in my opinion) rather than people who have personality clashes. It seems that in the past they have done that on purpose. I also like
his cast because of the variety of nationalities... it's just awesome.
