WATERBUCK

Any of several African antelopes of the genus Kobus, family of Bovidae, which usually inhabit swampy tracts and reed beds.

They vary in size from 6-7.25 ft/1.4-2.1 m. long are up to 4.5 ft/1.4 m. tall at the shoulder and have long brown fur. The large curved horns, normally carried only by the males, have corrugated surfaces.

Some species have white patches on their buttocks. Lechwe, Kor, Kob, defrassa and the puku are alternative names for some of the species.
